"Jouw PS5 is te warm”
De PS5 toont dit om zichzelf te beschermen en vraagt u vervolgens om het uit te schakelen. Eén keer is een waarschuwing. Regelmatig betekent dat de koeling niet meegaat.

Vloeibaar metaal wegpompen (PS5)
In de loop der jaren kan het vloeibare metaal tussen de chip en het koellichaam onder de afscherming vandaan kruipen, waardoor er een hete plek ontstaat. De temperatuur stijgt zelfs als de console schoon is.
Gedroogde thermische pasta (Xbox, PS4)
De pasta droogt en barst bij elke verwarmingscyclus en stopt met het verplaatsen van warmte naar het koellichaam. Een console die buiten brandschoon is, kan nog steeds heet worden.
Gaat uit in rustmodus
Schakelt zichzelf uit tijdens het downloaden of blijft niet in de rustmodus. Warmte is een veel voorkomende oorzaak. Dat geldt ook voor macht, en daarom stellen we eerst een diagnose.
Stof en haren van huisdieren in de ventilatieopeningen
Je kunt de ventilatieopeningen stofzuigen. Je kunt de vinnen van het koellichaam niet bereiken zonder deze te openen, en dat is waar het stof zich ophoopt.
Vloeibaar metaal, koelpasta en waarom stof niet het hele verhaal is
Elke console voert op dezelfde manier warmte af: van de processor, via een thermische interface, naar een koellichaam en vervolgens naar buiten met de ventilator. Oververhitting betekent dat een van die links niet meer werkt.
Op een PS5 dat grensvlak is vloeibaar metaal. Sony heeft ervoor gekozen omdat het warmte veel beter transporteert dan pasta, maar het geleidt elektriciteit en kan na verloop van jaren onder zijn schild vandaan kruipen. Het oude metaal moet loskomen en vers metaal gaat verder, waarbij het gebied wordt afgedamd en geëgaliseerd zoals het de fabriek verliet, omdat door onzorgvuldig aanbrengen kortsluiting in het bord ontstaat.
Xbox Series X, Series S and PS4 use thermal paste. It dries out with heat and stops passing heat to the heatsink, so we scrape it off and apply fresh. Then the heatsink fins and fan are cleared of packed dust.

How much is a PS5 overheating repair?
PS5 £74.99 and PS5 Slim £74.99. That covers the strip-down, the dust clean and fresh liquid metal. If the fan itself has failed, a fan replacement is PS5 £79.99 or PS5 Slim £89.99.
Do you replace the liquid metal on a PS5?
Yes. Liquid metal is what Sony uses on the PS5, so that's what goes back on: the old metal is cleaned off and fresh liquid metal is applied with the area dammed and levelled. We don't swap it for paste.
Do you charge for diagnosis?
No fix, no fee. If you go ahead with the repair, the diagnosis is included free. If we diagnose it and you decide not to go ahead, there's a £35 diagnostic fee. Either way you know exactly what's wrong and what it costs before any work starts.
How much is an Xbox Series X or Series S overheating repair?
Xbox Series X £74.99 and Xbox Series S £64.99: deep clean of the heatsink and fan, and fresh thermal paste. A Series S fan replacement is £54.99.
Why does my PS5 say it's too hot?
It's protecting itself. The usual causes are dust packed into the heatsink, a blocked or enclosed spot, or liquid metal that has moved away from the chip. If it happens with plenty of space around the console, the cause is inside.
How long does it take?
The repair takes 2-3 hours on the bench. Drop it off and it's often ready the same day. Posted repairs are turned around once they arrive and we keep you updated. When we're very busy a repair can take up to 7-10 working days, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
Is this the same as your ultrasonic deep clean?
No. The overheating repair is internal: heatsink, fan and thermal interface. The ultrasonic exterior clean is cosmetic, for the shell and panels, and does nothing for temperatures. Lots of people have both done in the same visit.
Do you do the PS5 Pro?
We don't list a fixed-price overheating repair for the PS5 Pro yet, so ask us for a quote. A PS5 Pro fan replacement is £79.99.
Can I post my console in?
Yes, from anywhere in the UK. Choose your console above, pay online, add a prepaid tracked label at checkout if you want one, and post it in. It comes back to you tracked, free. Console repairs are a UK service, so we can't accept consoles posted from abroad.
Will I lose my games and saves?
No. The cooling work doesn't involve the storage, so your games and saves stay where they are.
