Best PS5 Controller for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (UK)

By the OG Repairs workshop team, LondonPublished 4 min read

What is the best PS5 controller for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4?

For Modern Warfare 4 on PS5, look for drift-free sticks so you can run a low deadzone, short triggers that fire fast and back paddles for jump, slide and reload. At OG Repairs that is the OG Pro Headshot, from £169.99: TMR sticks, clicky triggers and 4 back paddles on a genuine DualSense, with a 12-month warranty.

Key facts

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the newest Call of Duty; everything here applies to Black Ops 7 and Warzone too.
  • Stick drift ruins aim: a worn stick moves your crosshair when you aren't touching it, so you raise the deadzone and lose fine aim.
  • TMR sticks read a magnet, not a rubbing track, so they don't wear into drift and you can keep a low deadzone.
  • Clicky triggers fire at around 0.5mm of travel instead of a long analog pull.
  • Back paddles only remap buttons the controller already has, and on an OG build they're permanently mapped 1:1, so nothing modifies your inputs.

What makes a good Call of Duty controller?

Aim, speed and movement. Aim needs sticks that stay centred, so you can lower the deadzone without the crosshair creeping. Speed comes from triggers with short travel. Movement comes from back paddles: jump, slide and crouch without taking your right thumb off the aim stick, so you can move and aim at the same time.

  • Sticks: TMR or Hall effect sensors don't wear into drift. Standard DualSense sticks read a carbon track that does.
  • Triggers: clicky switches with short travel fire and aim down sights sooner than a full analog pull.
  • Back paddles: 4 let you put jump, slide, crouch and reload on the back of the pad.
  • Weight: removing the rumble motors makes the pad lighter over long sessions and stops it shaking while you aim.

How the OG Pro Headshot is set up

The Headshot is built on a genuine Sony DualSense with TMR sticks. TMR (tunnel magnetoresistance) reads a magnet instead of a contact sliding over a resistive track, so there is no track to wear and you can run a lower deadzone without ghost inputs.

The triggers are converted to clicky switches with around 0.5mm of travel. Four back paddles take the buttons you choose, usually jump, slide, crouch and reload. We remove the vibration motors, which takes around 40g off, and fit a textured grip on both handles.

Each one is built to order and tested by hand in our London workshop, Standard 2 weeks or Express 5 days, then shipped tracked in the UK or worldwide.

How does the Headshot compare with other custom controllers?

Battle Beaver and SCUF are established brands with their own designs, prices and warranty terms, so check theirs directly. What we can state for the Headshot: built to order in London on a genuine DualSense, TMR sticks, clicky triggers and 4 back paddles as standard, a 12-month warranty from the workshop that built it, and free UK delivery.

Already own a Battle Beaver or SCUF? We repair and upgrade both as an independent workshop, including TMR stick upgrades, so you can keep the controller you know.

Are back paddles allowed in Call of Duty?

Back paddles only press buttons the controller already has, so online they act like the normal buttons. Call of Duty's Security and Enforcement Policy penalises unauthorised hardware or software that gives an unfair advantage, and Activision's RICOCHET anti-cheat targets devices such as the Cronus Zen. Back buttons permanently mapped 1:1 to the buttons you choose. Esports-friendly and tournament legal for most competitions: nothing modifies your inputs.

Call of Duty controller FAQs

Is the Headshot good for Warzone and Black Ops 7 too?

Yes. The setup suits any Call of Duty, including Warzone and Black Ops 7, and other shooters such as Battlefield, Apex Legends, Fortnite and Marvel Rivals.

Do clicky triggers have a downside?

They are on or off, so you lose the analog pressure range. For shooters that rarely matters; for football or racing games it does, which is why our Tekkers keeps analog triggers.

Why is the vibration removed?

Taking the rumble motors out saves around 40g, so the pad is lighter over long sessions and doesn't shake while you aim.

How long does it take, and what's the warranty?

Each Headshot is built to order in London: Standard 2 weeks or Express 5 days, then shipped tracked. It carries a 12-month warranty on the parts we fit and our workmanship, and UK delivery is free.
