How much does an Xbox Series X HDMI port repair cost?
An Xbox Series X HDMI port repair at OG Repairs costs £74.99, and an Xbox Series S £69.99. That fixed price covers diagnosis, a new HDMI port soldered to the board, the pads underneath checked and repaired, and a picture test before return, with a 12-month warranty and no fix, no fee.
Why does my Xbox Series X say no signal?
If the Xbox is clearly on but every cable and TV you try shows no signal, the HDMI port or the retimer chip behind it has usually failed. A loose plug, bent pins or a picture that drops out when the cable moves points at the port, which OG Repairs replaces at a fixed price.
Where can I get an Xbox HDMI port fixed in the UK?
OG Repairs replaces Xbox Series X, Series S, One X and One S HDMI ports at its workshop at Unit 9, Hatcham Road, London SE15 1TR, by appointment, and by post from anywhere in the UK with a prepaid Royal Mail QR label. Standard turnaround is 1-3 working days, and repairs come back tracked, free.
Xbox HDMI faults we see every week
They don't all have the same cause. A cable, a TV setting, the port or the chip behind it can all look the same from the sofa, which is why we check before we fix.
Xbox on, TV says “No signal”
The power light is on and the fan spins, but the Xbox start-up screen never appears. The classic sign of a damaged port or the chip behind it.
Sound but no picture
You hear the start-up sound or a game over a black screen. The console is running; the picture isn't getting out of it.
Flickering, sparkles or cuts out
The picture drops out or fills with sparkles, often when the cable is touched. A worn port or a lifted pad, and it gets worse each time.
Fine at 1080p, drops out at 4K or 120Hz
High resolutions and refresh rates push the most data through the port. Try the cable that came in the box first; if it still drops out, the port is worth a diagnosis.
Port feels loose or wobbly
The port is soldered to the mainboard. If the plug moves around in it, the joints have cracked or the port has taken a knock.
Bent or pushed-in pins
Shine a torch into the port. A bent centre tongue or flattened pins means a new port. Don't keep forcing a cable in.
No lights at all
If the Xbox won't power on, the HDMI port isn't the problem.
Won't turn on? No power repair →Picture fine, but it overheats
Shutting down mid-game or a roaring fan is a cooling fault, not HDMI.

Port or retimer chip? We find out first
Two parts get the picture out of an Xbox. The HDMI port is the socket the cable plugs into, soldered straight onto the mainboard. Behind it sits a small chip called a retimer, which cleans up the HDMI signal before it leaves the console.
A cable yanked sideways, a console pulled off a shelf by its lead, or years of plugging in and out damage the port. A power surge, or plugging the cable in while the console is on, can take out the retimer instead. Both look the same on the TV: no signal.
So every Xbox HDMI job starts with a diagnosis. We check the port, the pads and tracks around it, and the chip. If it's the port, you pay the fixed price on this page. If it's the chip, or something else, we tell you what it needs and what it costs before we touch it. No fix, no fee: go ahead and the diagnosis is included.
Go ahead with the repair and the diagnosis is included free. Decide not to, and there's a £35 diagnostic fee. Either way you know what's wrong and what it costs before any work starts.
Port damage
- Loose, wobbly or pushed-in socket
- Bent, flattened or missing pins
- Picture comes and goes when the cable moves
- Usually follows a knock or a pulled cable
Retimer chip fault
- Port looks and feels fine
- No signal on every TV and every cable
- Can follow a power cut, a surge or hot-plugging
- Not covered by the port price: we tell you what it needs first

- Damaged port removed from the mainboard
- Pads and tracks around it checked, and repaired if lifted
- A brand-new HDMI port soldered in
- Picture tested on the bench, up to 4K at high refresh on a Series X
- Photos or video of the work on request
- 12-month warranty on the repair
Paying
- Drop-off: pay at the workshop once it's fixed.
- Mail-in: pay online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Or spread it over 3 payments with Klarna or Clearpay.
Two minutes of checks before you book
- 1Swap the HDMI cable for one you know works, ideally the one that came in the box. Cheap or long cables often can't carry 4K at 120Hz.
- 2Try a different HDMI input on the TV, or a different TV or monitor.
- 3Start the Xbox in low-resolution mode. Microsoft's support site gives the button combination for your model. If a picture comes back, the port may be fine and it's a display setting.
- 4Still nothing on any screen, or the plug moves in the port? Stop plugging it in and out. That's the point to book it in.

Questions people ask
How much is an Xbox Series X HDMI port repair?
£74.99. That's the fixed price to replace the port, check and repair the board around it, and test the picture up to 4K at high refresh. If the diagnosis shows the retimer chip has failed rather than the port, we tell you what it needs and what it costs before doing any work.
How much is an Xbox Series S HDMI port repair?
£69.99, with the same process as the Series X: diagnosis, a new port, the pads around it checked, and a picture test before it goes back.
Do you repair Xbox One X and Xbox One S HDMI ports?
Yes. Xbox One X is £49.99 and Xbox One S is £49.99, for the same port replacement, board check and picture test.
Can an Xbox Series X HDMI port be repaired?
Yes. The port is a separate part soldered to the mainboard, so a damaged one can be taken off and replaced. We remove the old port, check the pads and tracks underneath and repair any that have lifted, solder in a new port and test the picture. It's micro-soldering: heat in the wrong place damages the board, so it isn't a DIY job.
Do you charge for diagnosis?
No fix, no fee. If you go ahead with the repair, the diagnosis is included free. If we diagnose it and you decide not to go ahead, there's a £35 diagnostic fee. Either way you know exactly what's wrong and what it costs before any work starts.
How long does an Xbox HDMI port repair take?
The repair itself takes 2-3 hours on the bench. Standard turnaround is 1 to 3 working days once it's with us, dropped off or posted in, and we keep you updated. Need it back the same day? That's possible with our priority service*. When we're very busy a repair can take up to 7-10 working days, and we'll tell you if that's the case. (*A priority fee applies, and it depends on the fault, parts and how busy the workshop is. Ask the team when you book.)
Why does my Xbox say no signal?
Most often it's the cable, the TV input or a display setting, which is why the two-minute checks above are worth doing first. If a cable you know works, on a second TV, still gets nothing while the Xbox is clearly on, the fault is in the console's video output: the HDMI port, or the retimer chip behind it.
How do I know if it's the port or the retimer chip?
From the outside you often can't. A loose plug, bent pins or a picture that comes and goes with the cable point at the port. No signal on every TV and cable with a port that looks perfect points at the chip. We diagnose before we start and tell you which it is.
Can I still use my Xbox if the HDMI port is broken?
Not on a TV: HDMI is the only video output on an Xbox Series X or Series S. If remote features were already switched on, you may be able to stream games to a phone or PC through the Xbox app while you wait, but that's a stop-gap, not a fix. If the port is loose, stop plugging cables in and out: each time it moves it can pull the pads underneath off the board.
The HDMI port has already been replaced and there's still no picture. Can you help?
Yes. When a new port doesn't bring the picture back, the usual reasons are pads or tracks under the port that were damaged when the old one came off, a joint that isn't making contact, or the retimer chip behind the port. Tell us it's been worked on when you book. We diagnose it and tell you what we find and what it costs before we touch it.
Can I post my Xbox in?
Yes, from anywhere in the UK. Choose your console above and pay online. Add a prepaid Royal Mail tracked label at checkout and we email you a QR code: take the packed console to any Post Office and they scan it, so there's nothing to print. Or post it yourself. It comes back to you tracked, free. Console repairs are a UK service, so we can't accept consoles posted from abroad.
Where can I get an Xbox HDMI port fixed in London?
At our workshop: Unit 9, Hatcham Road, London SE15 1TR, just off the Old Kent Road on the Southwark side of SE15. South Bermondsey station is about a 10-minute walk, and Queens Road Peckham and Surrey Quays are about 15 minutes. Visits are by appointment, so book a free drop-off slot first. Further away? Post it in from anywhere in the UK.
My Xbox is overheating too. Can you fix both at once?
Yes. We do both in one visit, with the overheating repair (deep clean and fresh thermal paste) priced on its own page. Ask about a deal when you book two repairs.
Will I lose my games and saves?
An HDMI repair doesn't involve the storage, so your games and saves stay where they are.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every repair we do carries a 12-month warranty on the parts we fit and the work.
Not worth fixing?
If the repair costs more than the console is worth to you, we'll buy it as it is. Or skip the wait with a refurbished console, tested and with a 12-month warranty.
