How to test in 4 steps

1

Plug in or pair

Connect your controller by USB or Bluetooth to this device.

2

Press any button

Wake the controller so your browser detects it - you'll see it light up below.

3

Roll the sticks

Move both sticks in full circles and watch for drift, off-centre resting, or dead zones.

4

Read the result

Steady centre = healthy. Wandering input at rest = drift that usually needs a TMR upgrade.

Controller tester FAQ

What is stick drift?

Stick drift is when your controller registers movement even though you're not touching the stick. It's caused by worn potentiometers inside the analog stick module. Our tester shows it instantly as input that won't settle at centre.

Does the controller tester work for PS5, PS4 and Xbox?

Yes. It works with PS5 DualSense, DualSense Edge, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Elite Series 2, SCUF and most third-party controllers, over USB or Bluetooth.

Is it free?

Completely free. It runs in your browser - nothing to install. There's also a free OG Gamepad Tester app on Google Play for on-the-go testing.

My controller has drift - what now?

Drift means the stick module is worn. A permanent fix is a TMR (magnetic, contactless) upgrade that eliminates physical wear. We can repair or upgrade it - mail-in from anywhere or drop off at our London workshop.

Why does the tester need gamepad permission?

Browsers only expose controller data to a page you've interacted with, using the standard Gamepad API. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere - all testing happens locally on your device.

Found drift? We'll sort it.

A TMR upgrade replaces worn sticks with magnetic, contactless sensors - drift-free for years. Mail it in from anywhere or drop off at our London workshop.
