At OG Repairs, a professional ultrasonic deep clean means the controller is stripped right down and its shell, buttons and sticks are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, then sanitised, rebuilt and every input tested. It costs £19.99 for a DualSense or Xbox pad. It is a clean, not a repair: no fault is fixed.
A loud, hot PS5 needs the internal deep clean in OG Repairs' overheating repair, £74.99 on a PS5: the heatsink and fan are cleared of packed dust and the liquid metal is renewed. The £44.99 ultrasonic exterior clean is cosmetic, for the shell, panels and vents, and does not change temperatures.
OG Repairs cleans consoles and controllers at its workshop at Unit 9, Hatcham Road, London SE15 1TR, by appointment, and drop-offs are often ready the same day. From elsewhere in the UK, post it in with a prepaid Royal Mail QR label, nothing to print. Controllers are also accepted from abroad and returned tracked.
Three different jobs get called a “deep clean”. Two are about how it looks and feels. One is about how hot it runs.
The pad is stripped right down. The shell, buttons and sticks are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, sanitised, dried and rebuilt, then every input is tested.
Cosmetic. The shell comes off and the outer panels go into a temperature-controlled ultrasonic tank. Vent slats, seams and port surrounds are cleared, loose dust is blown out of the shell, and it's reassembled and tested.
The inside job. The console is stripped to the cooling assembly, packed dust is cleared from the heatsink fins and fan, and the thermal interface is renewed: liquid metal on a PS5, thermal paste on Xbox and PS4.
That's a fault, not dirt, and a clean is not a repair. The fix is the full button and trigger restore (£29.99 on a DualSense): every button, trigger and contact stripped, cleaned and restored, worn parts replaced, every input tested.
An ultrasonic cleaner sends high-frequency sound through a liquid bath. That makes millions of tiny bubbles that form and collapse against every surface, and the collapsing bubbles lift dirt out of textures, seams and corners that a cloth or a cotton bud can't reach.
It is done on the parts, not on a whole assembled controller or console. A controller is stripped first: the shell, buttons and sticks go in the bath, then they're sanitised and dried before it's rebuilt. On a console it's the outer panels that go in the tank, and there's no thermal work at all.
What it won't do: scratches, gouges and sun-yellowed plastic are in the plastic, not on it, so no clean shifts them. A worn button contact or a drifting stick is a repair, not a clean. And no exterior clean brings temperatures down, because heat is an inside problem.

It depends which clean you mean. The outside, with the shell and panels cleaned in our ultrasonic tank, is £44.99, the same for every console. The inside, with the heatsink and fan cleared of dust and fresh liquid metal applied, is our overheating repair: PS5 £74.99 and PS5 Slim £74.99. If it's loud, hot or shutting down, it's the inside you need.
A PS5 DualSense, PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox Series or Xbox One controller is £19.99. SCUF, DualSense Edge, Xbox Elite Series 2, Battle Beaver and AIM controllers are £33.99. The price is fixed and shown before you book.
The way we do it, yes. The controller is stripped down first and the clean is done on the shell, buttons and sticks, not on a whole assembled pad. Everything is sanitised and dried before it's rebuilt, and every input is tested before it goes back. The work carries our 12-month warranty.
Not as a repair. The deep clean is cosmetic and hygienic. If buttons or triggers are sticking down, feel mushy or miss presses, that's a fault, and the fix is the full button and trigger restore (£29.99 on a DualSense, £22.99 on an Xbox Series controller), which cleans every button, trigger and contact and replaces worn parts.
Clear dust from the vents with a low-powered vacuum whenever you can see it building up. There's no fixed schedule for the inside, because it depends on dust, pets and smoke in the room. The signs it's due are a fan that's louder than it used to be, a case that gets hotter, or overheating warnings.
The clean takes 2-3 hours on the bench. Drop it off and it's often ready the same day. Posted cleans are turned around once they arrive, and a controller clean ticked alongside a repair has the same turnaround as the repair. When we're very busy a job can take up to 7-10 working days, and we'll tell you if so.
Yes. Pay online and add a prepaid Royal Mail tracked label at checkout if you want one: you get a QR code to use at your local Post Office, so there's nothing to print. Or post it yourself. It comes back to you tracked, free. Controllers are welcome from outside the UK too. Console cleans are a UK service.
