TMR vs Hall effect vs stock sticks
Stick drift is the reason most people come to us. A stock PS5 or Xbox stick reads its position with a potentiometer: a contact sliding over a resistive track. The track wears, the reading wanders, and the controller moves on its own. Hall effect and TMR sticks read a magnet instead, so there is no track to wear out.

Magnetic sticks remove the part that causes most drift, but they are still mechanical: springs and gimbals can wear, and any stick can need recalibrating. That is what the 12-month warranty is for.

How much does a custom PS5 controller cost?
Our custom PS5 controllers start at £89.99 with TMR drift-free sticks fitted. Ready-specced Quick Picks run from £154.99 to £239. Back buttons, clicky triggers, a 4000mAh battery and Express build each add to the price, and the builder shows the total as you go. Sending your own DualSense in takes £50 off.
How long does a custom controller take?
Standard builds take 2 weeks and Express builds 5 days, then it ships. A Marius board adds 2 weeks. UK delivery is 2-3 working days. If you send your own controller in, the build time starts when it reaches us. When the workshop is very busy a build can run late, and we tell you if it does.
What is a TMR controller?
A TMR controller uses tunnel magnetoresistance sensors in its analog sticks. The sensor reads a magnet instead of a contact sliding over a track, so there is nothing to wear into drift. TMR draws less power than Hall effect and is more sensitive. Every custom PS5 and DualSense Edge we build has TMR sticks, and they are an option on our Xbox and PS4 builds.
Is TMR better than Hall effect?
Both stop wear-related drift because neither uses a contact track. TMR is more sensitive and draws much less current, so it costs less battery life on a wireless pad. That is why we fit TMR rather than Hall effect.
Can a custom controller still get stick drift?
Drift on stock controllers comes from the potentiometer track wearing out. TMR sticks don't have that track, so that cause is gone. They are still mechanical, so a spring or gimbal can wear or a stick can need recalibrating. Our 12-month warranty covers the build.
Is a custom controller a good SCUF alternative?
For PS5, yes. SCUF's current PS5 pad, the Omega, has TMR sticks, 4 paddles and 2 side buttons but drops haptics, adaptive triggers and vibration. We build on a genuine DualSense, so you keep those, choose 2 or 4 back buttons, start from £89.99, and can even upgrade a DualSense you already own.
Custom DualSense or DualSense Edge?
The Edge has 2 back buttons, trigger stops and swappable stick modules, but those modules still use potentiometer sticks that can drift. A custom DualSense gets TMR sticks, up to 4 back buttons and clicky triggers. Already own an Edge? We can fit TMR or GuliKit 720 sticks to it from £54.99.
Is it a genuine Sony controller?
Yes. Every custom PS5 controller starts as a genuine Sony DualSense, new or your own, and keeps Bluetooth, USB-C, the speaker, the mic and the touchpad. Haptics and adaptive triggers stay too, unless you choose clicky triggers (which replace the trigger feel) or remove the vibration motors.
Does customising a controller void the warranty?
Opening a controller ends the manufacturer's warranty, so every build we sell carries our own 12-month warranty instead. It covers the parts we fit and our work, and claims come back to the London workshop that built it.
Are back buttons tournament legal?
Back buttons that copy an existing input are hardware remaps, which major esports rules allow. Back buttons permanently mapped 1:1 to the buttons you choose. Esports-friendly and tournament legal for most competitions: nothing modifies your inputs. The Marius boards are third-party, so check your event's rules for those.
Can I send my own controller to be customised?
Yes, for the PS5 DualSense and the DualSense Edge. Choose "Upgrade my own controller" in the builder. In the UK we email a prepaid Royal Mail QR code for any Post Office; elsewhere we send instructions and our workshop address. Return delivery is included.
Do custom PS5 controllers work on PC?
Yes. Every custom DualSense, Edge, DualShock 4 and Xbox controller works on PC like the stock pad. For competitive PC play, our Marius builds fit an MH5 or MH4 board that can poll at up to 8000Hz over a wired USB connection (a stock DualSense polls at 250Hz over USB). Marius boards are PC only and won't work on a console.
Do you ship custom controllers worldwide?
Yes. Prices show in your currency and standard shipping is free on orders of £100 or more. Delivery times and any import duties depend on your country.
Can I return a custom controller?
