DualSense Edge Stick Module Replacement: How to Swap It and What to Fit
By the OG Repairs workshop team, LondonPublished 3 min read
How do you replace a DualSense Edge stick module?
Turn the controller off, slide the release latch on the back to take the front cover off, lift the lever beside the stick, slide the module out and click the new one in. No tools needed. A new Sony module has the same wearing stick inside, so OG Repairs sells TMR modules from £64.99 with no carbon track to wear.
Key facts
- The Edge's sticks sit in modules you can swap without tools, and left and right modules are interchangeable.
- Sony's replacement module uses the same potentiometer sticks, so it wears and drifts the same way in time.
- Our TMR Edge modules come ready-built and calibrated: £64.99 for one, £112.99 for a pair.
- GuliKit 720 TMR modules, with stick tension you can adjust, are £139.99 a pair.
- Prefer to keep your own modules? We fit TMR inside both of them for £64.99.
How to swap a DualSense Edge stick module
- Turn the controller off: hold the PS button until the player indicator light goes out.
- Unplug the USB cable.
- Slide the release latch on the back of the controller and lift off the front cover.
- Raise the release lever beside the stick module you're changing.
- Slide the old module out. Check the new one is the right way round, then slide it along the grooves until it clicks.
- Lower the release lever.
- Line up the cover with the notches on the controller and press it on until it clicks.
That's Sony's own procedure, and it takes a couple of minutes. Left and right modules are interchangeable, so if only one stick drifts you only need one module. Afterwards, check both sticks with our free Gamepad Tester.
Why a new Sony module drifts again
Because inside it is the same kind of stick that wore out: a potentiometer, where a wiper rubs a carbon track every time the stick moves. Swapping the module resets the clock rather than removing the cause. A TMR module reads the stick with a magnet instead, so there's nothing rubbing to wear.

OG TMR or GuliKit 720?
Both are contactless TMR sticks, so neither suffers wear-related drift. The GuliKit 720 adds a tension adjustment, so you can make the stick lighter or stiffer to suit how you play. If you've no strong view on stick feel, the standard TMR module does the job.
When it isn't the stick module
Back paddles that stop registering, sticky triggers, charging and battery faults are repairs, not module swaps. Back paddle repairs are £59.99, and every Edge repair has a fixed price on our DualSense Edge repair page. Controllers are accepted by post from anywhere in the world and returned tracked at no charge.
